| For over two decades, Mark Purdey has been fighting a single-handed war against the UK government's official stance on ' mad cow disease' and other neuro- degenerative conditions in both animals and humans. While agreeing that these conditions are caused by a 'rogue' prion protein, Mark has produced his own compelling science to show that the corruption of the protein is caused by complex, human induced environmental factors, including the use of organo-phosphate pesticides, and is not a quasi- naturally occurring phenomenon, as the government continues to assert. |

| Decades of the presence of Multinational Oil in the Niger Delta has led not only to the widespread environmental degradation of this environmentally sensitive region, but has also left in its wake a legacy of inter-communal violence and rampant local political corruption - cynically concocted, alleges veteran Nigerian environmental / human rights campaigner DONNY OHIA, by the oil multinationals present in the region as a matter of corporate policy. In the wake of the execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa, Donny also found himself under considerable personal threat (a fellow campaigner was murdered), so fled to Germany where he sought political asylum. There he continued his political struggle, establishing the organisation Concerned Nigerians for Democracy and even occupying, with fellow campaigners, the offices of Die Gruenen (The Greens) in Cologne during the G7 summit in the city, despite the fact that this might prejudice his asylum application. In this interview, Donny Ohia describes the environmental / human rights situation (he forcefully dismisses the argument, trumpeted by 'western' governments, that Nigeria is now a "Democracy") in the Niger Delta , and the abysmal treatment he has received at the hands of the German authorities. |

| The Bialowieza Forest in eastern Poland is Europe's very last piece of extensive ancient, temperate primeval forest and home to some of Europe's last wolves, lynx, bears and European Bison. Professor Wesotowski of Krakow University is the forest's foremost authority and staunchest defender, and is unreservedly scathing in his criticism of the modern 'industrial' forestry, commercial interests and government duplicity that now threaten the Bialowieza forest. This interview is essential listening for anyone interested in ecology in general, and forestry in particular. |

The fact that the US is the only country in the "democratic" world to maintain the death penalty is disturbing enough, but the racially skewed character of US ' justice' in its implementation of capital punishment is a further factor of concern for which their is generally too little awareness, either within or outside the US. The infamous US death penalty is not merely an abomination in itself, argues Chee-Meng Bartel, it is also blatantly racist in its disproportionate 'targeting' of black Americans. |
